Return to Damascus: How do you build new Syria?

For the exiled Syrians, this is the moment of the Berlin wall – the doors to a homeland they thought they did not see again swinging suddenly. The amazing days brought on December 8, and the appearance of the non -transmitted Assad regime, an unexpected gift for Christmas: a return to Damascus. But with the fading of the initial euphoria, Syrian -eyed Syrians know better than advertising, “They all lived in permanent happiness.” The Arab Spring lessons are looming on the horizon, and the upcoming challenges are arduous. How to move in a landscape formed by severe armed factions – sometimes allies, and sometimes competitors? What do you do with thousands of civil service employees and state security employees have left without paid since the fall of Assad? As the international community moves to lift the sanctions, the biggest question remains: How to direct money and efforts to rebuild Syria not only revived, but was re -imagined.
