In 2019, after Zubaidi had already served years in Israeli prisons, he was arrested again.
But in 2021, he and five other prisoners came out of the utmost security prison in northern Israel, an escape that helped consolidate Zubaidi’s image among the Palestinians as a popular hero.
He was restored and the other five fleeing at a later time.
In 2006, Zubaidi established the Freedom Theater in the Jenin Refugee camp – his home in the occupied West Bank – to enhance the cultural resistance of Israel.

Violent Israeli raids are common in the Jenin refugee camp, which is seen as a center of Palestinian resistance within the occupied West Bank.
The Israeli forces are currently carrying out an intensive military operation in the camp, which entered their second week and killed at least 16 Palestinians and wounded dozens.
The Israeli army said on Wednesday that it had killed 18 Palestinians and arrested 60 in Jenin and Tolkram as part of its continuous work in the occupied territories.
The 110 Palestinians will be released to a total of 400 Palestinians who were released from Israeli prisons, with a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas continued.
At that time, the Israeli forces arrested dozens of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including 12 Palestinians who were arrested in occupied East Jerusalem, claiming that it was violated to ban “expressions of joy” and “identifying Hamas” during the release of the second prisoners last week.
Before the current round of prisoners’ publications, 10,400 Palestinians were detained in the Israeli reservation, including more than 3,300 detainees in administrative detention without charge or trial.
The records of the Palestinian prisoners, who are held by the Israeli forces during their war on the Gaza Strip, do not include many health workers, including Dr. Hafam Abu Soufa, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza.
Israeli soldiers detained Abu Sofa on December 29 after they violently attacked his hospital in the northern Gaza Strip.
Last week, the Al -Mizan Center for Human Rights said that the Israeli authorities had sought a ban that prevents Abu Soufa from meeting with his lawyer until February 6 after the Judges Court of Israel extended his detention without charge until February 13.
