Nestle is said to be planning, in partnership with Starbucks, to bring the global coffee chain products to the retail market outside the cafes. Nestle has a global coffee partnership with Starbucks that allows both companies to highlight a wide range of products.
According to a report in The Economic Times, head of the Nestle Strategic Business Unit, Axel Touzet, the company plans to expand the coffee portfolio in India to target the moments of different coffee consumption.
Nestle and Starbucks signed a global deal in 2018 granted the rights of Nestle to market coffee products and food packed in Starbucks outside the cafes. The report added that this does not affect the Starbucks joint project with the consumer Tata products that run the coffee chain in the country.
The two companies said that they extend their partnership to launch ready -made coffee beverages in the markets throughout Southeast Asia, Oceania and Latin America, according to which products such as Frappuccinos and Doubleshots will be offered.
Touzet said that Nestle has the right to distribute Starbucks ready -made coffee to drink as FMCG products, and they are keen to explore India because it is one of the fastest markets in Nescafe. He said that although India is a tea drinking market, there is tremendous potential for coffee.
It jointly develops a range of products including full, grilled, ground and distinctive coffee in Starbucks, capsules, Nespresso pods and Creamers.
Starbucks entered India in October 2012 through a 50:50 joint project with Tata consumable products. The joint project runs more than 470 stores. The report added that the arrangement with Nestle is exclusive to the joint Starbucks project with Consumer Tata products.
Tata Consumer Trade’s shares were higher in trade before opening today. The stock rose about 13 percent in 2025 so far.
