Scout Motors plan to avoid traditional agents and sell EVS directly to consumers facing a legal problem.
A group of Volkswagen and Audi dealers filed a lawsuit this week against Scout Motors, which came out of Volkswagen. The lawsuit was first I reported carsIt seeks to prevent the direct retail model for the consumer from Scout.
For years, agents have fought to prevent startups EV-especially Tesla- from directly to sale with mixed success. Now, the battle focuses on scout, which does not expect to start producing EVS until 2027.
In December 2024, the New California Traders Association issued a stop and desist messages to Volkswagen and Scout Motors, claiming that direct sales violate the state law. The agents groups in other states, especially in Florida, are trying to prevent the scouts from direct sales.
