Elon Musk and a group of participating investors made an offer of approximately $ 100 billion to the non -profit organization that controls Openai, which complicated the attempted CEO Sam German to convert the startup to a profit entity.
Musk presented attempts to the Openai Board of Directors on Monday, according to a person with a direct knowledge of the issue.
Soon after the Wall Street Journal informed for the first time about the unwanted approach 97.4 billion dollars, Altman said on the social networking site X, “No thanks to you, but we will buy Twitter for $ 9.74 billion if you want.” He bought Musk Twitter in 2022 and called it X.
Altman turns Openai into profitability, as the company has moved away from its roots as a non -profit research institution.
Musk, represented by Xai, a direct competitor to Openai, made multiple attempts to block this effort. Last month, Musk Mark Tobrov’s lawyer called on Dilayer and California’s general lawyer to force Openai to launch a competitive auction for the non -profit organization, which is located in the heart of the company.
Openai, who said it was not an external external offers for non -profit organizations, refused to comment on the show.
Musk’s offer for non -profit organizations is the latest Salvo in a lengthy and bitter competition between the head of Tesla and Altman. Former collaborators are now competing to control artificial intelligence, gather tens of billions of dollars and build extensive data centers. Openai is planning to develop $ 500 billion in Amnesty International Infrastructure in the coming years through a project supported by SoftBank called Stargate.
Musk, co -founder of Openai who invested tens of millions of dollars in the startup before leaving its board of directors in 2018, said the transfer betrays the founding task of startups. He has filed lawsuits against Altman and Openai.
Openai to A-Frofit will include non-profit spinning as a separate entity.
One of the main barriers that prevent the transfer is to create a fair value for non -profit organizations that, under the current structure, control the company. Openai, a private company that holds talks to raise a new capital to evaluate 260 billion dollars, is not an obligation to sell.
Separately as part of converting the company into profitability, Openai discussed an evaluation of about $ 30 billion for the non -profit entity, according to people who have knowledge of the discussion. Musk’s lawyers have argued that the number should be much higher and called for the process of providing competitive bids.
The highest evaluation may also mean paying larger compensation for Musk, which will be returned to the company in its early years several times.
