The decree says that the Palestinian families were imprisoned or killed by Israel may apply for social welfare assistance like others.
The Palestinian Authority (PA) has announced the end of a program to provide payments for Palestinian families who were killed or imprisoned by Israel, a long request from the United States and Israel.
President Mahmoud Abbas issued a decree on Monday “canceling” legal articles related to the initiative of allowances.
The matter made the step as a restructuring, and the transfer of the fund from the Ministry of Social Development to the Palestinian National Economic Empowerment Corporation.
She said that families will be eligible for regular social welfare payments such as other Palestinians “according to the standards of justice and global”, but it is not clear whether the allowances will stop immediately or continue according to a new model.
It is not uncommon for the two countries to make special payments for people who were killed in a violent conflict. But the United States has long encouraged the Palestinian Martyrs’ Fund, on the pretext that it is equivalent to attacks against Israel and its double “paying the price of slaughter.”
Hamas condemned the “non -national” movement of Aubas on Monday, and invited him to reverse it immediately. “We need to estimate the sacrifices of prisoners, wounded and witnesses instead of abandoning them,” the group said in a statement.
Israel has previously blocked and deducting Palestinian tax revenues on payments.
Abbas’s decree comes in a batch by the Palestinian Authority to present itself as an international reliable option to take over Gaza.
The Palestinian Authority security forces also coordinated the fighters committed to the armed struggle against Israel in the occupied West Bank.
In December, the Palestinian Authority launched a week -long security campaign in the Jenin refugee camp, which it said aimed at restoring law and order, which led to accusations of placing the siege in the region.
The Palestinian Authority campaign followed the “Iron Wall” operation of Israel in Jenin, which is part of its broader attack throughout the West Bank, which intensified after the ceasefire deal in Gaza last month.
The Israeli incursion has killed dozens – including women and children – and spent with a severe blow to the local economy, at a cost of at least $ 8.4 million a day, according to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
On Monday, the Palestinians accused the Israeli army of destroying the Nur Shams refugee camp in the northern region. Ahmed Al -Azaz, the elderly resident, said that the soldiers stormed the homes of people and forced them to leave.
“The destruction is everywhere in the camp,” he said. “The residents who are waiting for their role. The camp is surrounded and the Israeli forces are shaking all homes.”
The United States provides Israel – which is accused by the leading rights groups of imposing apartheid against the Palestinians – with billions of dollars in military aid annually.
