Budget 2025 with a touch of Bihar: The story behind Sari Nermala Sitaramann Madhoubani

When Finance Minister Nermalla Setharmann entered Parliament to present the federation’s budget 2025, it was not only her economic road map that acquired attention – she was also her clothes. It was Sitharaman who was chosen in an elegant creamy sari with traditional golden borders, more than just a pattern statement; It was a tribute to the inheritance of the rich artistic art and craftsmen behind it.

Al -Ya, decorated with complex Madrabani forms, was a special gift from the Badma Daily Devi Award, a famous artist from Methila in Bihar.

Sitharaman Dulari Devi met during the credit awareness event at the Mithila Institute of Art, where the two participated in a warm discussion about the legacy of Madhubani Art. After Sitharaman was deeply affected by the artist’s work, by requesting a hand -made budget day, and turning the national lights into this old artistic model.

DULARI Devi, Mr. Mithila or Madhubani Art, spent contracts to maintain this popular tradition and its development. It was born in 1968 in the village of Rante, Bihar, overcoming the enormous social and economic barriers, including poverty and class discrimination, to establish herself as a leading figure in the art society. Its complex designs, which mix BHARNI styles (full of colors) and kachnhi (font drawing), has become synonymous with the traditions of stories novel in Mithila.

Her journey to art began unexpectedly – while working as a local assistant at the home of the famous artist Mahasundry Devi. After observing the craft closely, Dulari Devi developed attention and later continued official training at the Methlla Institute of Art. Over the years, her work gained national recognition, and reached its climax at Padma Shri Honor in 2021 for her contributions to Madehubani.

This is not the first time that Sitharaman has issued a statement by choosing it from the budget day. In 2024, Sari Al -Azraq chose with floral motifs, while in 2023 he saw it in a red sari with black geometric patterns. Every year, her wardrobe confirms the skill of traditional handicrafts in India, which is in line with the budget government of local craftsmen and original industries.
