Aditya Kondawar, partner and vice president at Compcctionle, has a bold proposal for the government before the Federation’s budget 2025. Instead of relying on Public Sector Pledges (PSUS) to bear the burden of profits, proposes a strategic axis – the creation of the king of the wealth fund (SWF). This, as it is believed, can lead to greatly amplifying the impact of global investment in India.
“India must think strongly in the sovereign wealth box (SWF) now. Instead of pressing PSUS for stock profits, GOVT can ask PSU units SWF; The way to seek money in SWF.
The sovereign wealth fund is basically a state -owned investment group, and it is usually funded through surplus revenues such as those enjoyed by goods or foreign exchange reserves. These funds are designed to invest in a variety of assets – stocks, bonds, real estate, precious metals and even alternative ways such as private stocks and hedge boxes. By investing worldwide, SWFS helps countries secure financial returns while enhancing their economic imprint.
India has already has a sovereign wealth fund in the form of the National Investment and Investment Fund (NIIF), but Kondawar’s proposal is saving to increase this concept. His vision refers to a more powerful and active fund, supported by local financial giants such as LIC, with strategic contributions from PSUS.
SWF carries the Singapore government to distinguish between being the largest foreign sovereign investor in India, followed by Norway. Other prominent funds such as the Investment Authority of Abu Dhabi (AdIa), Investment Authority in Kuwait (KIA), Norwegian Retirement Fund, and GIC Holdings PTE. The limited limited increased steadily from its shares in Indian and startup companies, indicating increasing confidence in the country’s economic prospects.
These funds have placed great bets on Indian giants such as Reliable Industries and HDFC Bank, confirming the attractiveness of the growth story in India. Kondawar’s proposal suggests this momentum, indicating that India itself can play on the world stage – not only as an investment destination but as an investor with great influence.
