Hamas gunmen fired three hostages of male held in the Gaza Strip on Saturday and Israel began to launch 183 Palestinian prisoners of Israeli prisons, part of the ceasefire deal that suspended 15 months of severe fighting.
The gunmen handed over Yarden Pepas and the French -French Calderon to Red Cross officials in the southern city of Khan Yunis, while an American -Israeli -Israeli Keith Segel, who was looking for the truck, was released to the Red Cross later on Saturday morning in Gaza City to the north . The three were kidnapped during the Hamas -led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which sparked the war.
Their release takes off to 18 years of hostage who have been released since the ceasefire began on January 19. On Saturday, both events were quickly and organized, unlike the chaotic scenes that were revealed on Thursday when the armed militants were struggling to decline the crowd during the launch of the hostages.
In both releases on Saturday, convincing and armed gunmen stood in queues while the hostages walked on stage and waved before leading them and handing them over to the Red Cross.
At Square Square in Tel Aviv, thousands of people gather to see the releases that are transported directly on a large screen, marks and shouting.
The ceasefire aims to end the bloody and most destructive war between Israel and the Hamas Armed Group. The deal was held for two weeks, stopped fighting and allowing an increase in aid to flow to small coastal lands.
During the first stage of a six -week truce, a total of 33 Israeli hostages will be released in exchange for nearly 2000 Palestinian prisoners. Israel says it had received information from Hamas that eight of these hostages were either killed in Hamas on October 7, 2023, an attack or died in captivity.
Also on Saturday, the Palestinians with Gaza were allowed to leave Gaza through the Rafah crossing, which is the only exit point for the Palestinians during the war before Israel was closed in May. A civilian mission was deployed in the European Union on Friday to prepare for the reopening of the crossing.
Another major step in the first stage of the ceasefire, which calls for the Palestinians to return to northern Gaza and an increase in humanitarian aid to destroyed lands.
The Ministry of Health said that 50 children are sick and wounded were evacuated through the Rafah crossing with 61 comrades.
Siegel, 65 years old, was originally taken from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, as a hostage from Kibbutz Kafr Aza, alongside his wife Aviva Siegel. She was released during the 2023 ceasefire and launched a high -level campaign to liberate Keith and other hostages.
There were sighs of relief and chants in the living room, where members of Kibbutz saw a cyst version. Many of those in the room were friends of the family, who applauded when seeing a sore face, while some torn.
Siegel is one of the best prominent hostages, and now a familiar name in Israel after his wife, Aviva Siegel, who was also arrested in the Hamas attack, carried out a public campaign to bring him home after release from families in November 2023.
Meanwhile, Bibas, 35, attracted the renewed attention to the fate of his wife, Sherry, and their young buildings, Ariel, four and infidels, at nine months at that time. The four of Kibbutz nir oz were arrested.
KFIR was the smallest of about 250 people who were captured on October 7, and its ordeal soon came to represent the impotence and anger that moved the hostages in Israel, where the Bibas family became a family name.
Hamas said that Sherry was killed in an Israeli air strike. Israel did not confirm this, but a military spokesperson recently recognized great anxiety about their destinies.
Kalderon, 54, was arrested from Kibbutz nir oz.
In Kfar Saba, north of Tel Aviv, the Kalderon family embraced and chanted as they saw his pictures climbing on the stage in Khan Yunis and transferred him to the Red Cross.
“Offers returns home!” They said, weapons were raised to the sky.
Two children were kidnapped in Calderon, Hares and Sahar, next to him and were released during a short cease -fire in November 2023. Family members said they were unable to recover from their ordeal until their father returned.
Hamas has released 3 Israel and five Thai citizens in the chaotic expression in Gaza, which prompted Israel to delay the issuance of more than 100 Palestinian prisoners.
“We regret that it took a long time,” said Eyal Calderon. “We will soon be an entire family again. We hope that other families will feel soon, even the last family.”
Of nearly 250 people who were initially kidnapped by the militants in the October 7 attack, more than 100 people were released during a week’s ceasefire in November 2023. About 80 others are still in Gaza, at least a third of them believed dead.
Israel and enthusiasm were appointed next week to start negotiating the second stage of the ceasefire, which calls for the remaining hostages and expanding the armistice indefinitely. The war can be resumed in early March if an agreement is not reached.
Israel says it is still committed to the destruction of Hamas, even after the armed group re -evaluated its ruling on Gaza within hours of the last ceasefire.
Hamas says it will not launch the remaining hostages without ending the war and complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.
In the October 7 attack, about 1,200 people were killed, most of whom were civilians. More than 47,000 Palestinians were killed in the Israeli air and land war, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
The Israeli army says it has killed more than 17,000 fighters, without providing evidence. It blames civil deaths on Hamas because its fighters work in residential neighborhoods.
