STOCKHOLAM (Reuters) – Reuters financing head, in part, said in part to prepare for the potential American import of import in the United States.
Adam Carlson said in a. An interview after the quarterly H&M results.
Carlson said that the potential customs tariffs on imports are also pushing H&M to search for suppliers near its American market, adding that the retail seller has put scenarios for such commercial barriers, which was called “anxiety.”
“Of course it is a worker, and there are some countries under high scrutiny related to commercial barriers, and we monitor that with our progress,” he said, adding that the fact of H&M was from a wide range of countries with an advantage.
Carlson said that H&M explores options for the source of more products from Central America, to serve markets including the United States and Brazil. For Europe, he gets more Turkey and looks forward to building the supplier base in Morocco and Egypt.
US President Donald Trump has made multiple threats about definitions, including imports from Mexico, Canada, China and the European Union, and floats on the idea of the blanket tariffs on all imports, which retailers and economists said will raise prices.
“If the customs tariff for everyone increases, then there will be a relative position to take it (at pricing),” Carlson said. “We must put our show in the same way regardless of whether or not there is a tariff.”
H&M did not reveal country level sales for 2024, but in 2023 the United States was its second largest market through sales, representing 14 % of total revenue.
