Whether allowing sexual athletes to compete in women’s sports, it was indeed a major discussion between Olympic leaders before US President Donald Trump signed an executive order that puts pressure on them before the 2028 summer games in Los Angeles.
In a speech before signing the document on Wednesday, Trump said he wanted the International Olympic Committee to change everything “in relation to this funny topic.”
The head of the Olympic Committee for Agricultural Countries, Thomas Bach, who held a tense meeting with Trump during his first term at the White House, has avoided taking a strong position on this issue, but many of the seven candidates who run to replace him this year.
Sebastian Co, who heads athletics world, seems to be the global path that governs the field, supports Trump’s position at his X.
“Preserving the integrity of competition in the female category is a basic principle of athletics, and as we know everything begins in schools,” said Ko, a two -time Olympic champion of Britain. “The development of clear policies is unambiguous is the first critical step.”
At the present time, the International Olympic Committee only advises sports bodies that make final decisions regarding eligibility. The International Olympic Committee for Transgender Athletes allowed participating in the Olympic Games since 2004, but until 2021 it was not the first sexual converted athlete in sexual competition.
Three better Olympic sports – the track and the field, swimming and cycling – are now blocking athletes who have gone through male adulthood from competition in international women’s events.
The elections for the International Olympic Committee to replace Bach, which was reached to the maximum of 12 years and left in June, on March 20 at a meeting in Greece. Some candidates have made it clear where they stand on the participation of the transgender.
“In the world for athletics, we have developed clear policies to consult on female qualification,” Ko wrote in his statement targeting Latin voters. “I will defend clear policies based on science that protects the female category.”
Another pioneering competitor to replace Bach, Juan Antonio Samarans Junior, also urged the International Olympic Committee to appoint clear guidelines on this issue.
“IOC has a basic duty to protect women’s sport by adopting a policy to maintain unambiguous discrimination among the groups of men and women,” Samarans wrote in December.
“Informed frameworks” on ideology
In his statement in the elections, the president of the skiing union, Johan Elias, said that he wanted the International Olympic Committee to set rules “guidelines of biological truth, not cultural trends.”
“Regardless of the current testosterone levels, exposure to adulthood creates sex differences in height, weight, etc. which can provide a sports feature,” Elias said, urging “the frameworks familiar with science” on ideology.
The International Cycling Federation has followed the transgender policy in aquaculture and athletics in July 2023, although its president, David Lapartor, was more cautious in his Olympic statement. He suggested that the International Olympic Committee direct the Olympic sports bodies with common principles while “we need to accept that the response may vary from sport to sport.”
The only woman among the seven candidates from the International Olympic Committee, which won the Olympic Gold Medal for Swimming, did not address Kirguiss Covenri, the issue of gender is directly in her statement, instead of “strengthening women’s sports by protecting female sports.”
But in an interview with the BBC two weeks ago, she said it was the duty of the International Olympic Committee to ensure equal opportunities and fairness.
“I don’t think we can do this based on the medical and scientific research that I saw if we add or allow sexually transgender women to compete in the female category at the present time,” she said. “It is very clear that sexually transformed women are more capable in the female category, and they can take away opportunities that should be equal to women.”

The next IOC leader will need an effective working relationship with the Trump administration before the Los Angeles Olympics.

Later on Thursday, the ICRC responded to a request to comment on the case, saying: “Working with the relevant international sports federations, the International Olympic Committee will continue to explain and discuss various topics with the relevant authorities.”
