Meta and Unesco team to improve artificial intelligence translation

Meta has partnered with UNESCO on a new plan to improve translation and recognize AI’s speech, Techcrunch I mentioned. As part of the language technology partner program, Meta is looking for collaborators ready to donate at least 10 hours of speech recordings with copies, large written texts (200 camels) and groups of translated sentences. The goal is to focus on “disadvantaged languages, to support UNESCO’s works”, Meta wrote in A. Blog post.

To date, Meta and Unesco have signed the Nunavut government, a North Canadian region. The goal is to develop the Intuit Language Systems used there, inuktitut and inuinnaqtun. Meta said: “Our efforts are particularly focused on the disadvantaged languages, to support UNESCO’s work as part of the international contract for original languages.”

As part of the program, Meta releases an open source translation standard called Bouquet – a standard test for assessing the performance of artificial intelligence models that translate. It will consist of “carefully made by linguistic experts”, and seeks Contributions On a dedicated site.

Meta has been interested in translating AI for both text and speech, a logical step for a company linking users all over the world. Last year, a tool that uses artificial intelligence to automatically photograph rollers in other languages, with the lips synchronized, showed that it will launch some videos of creators in English and Spanish in the United States first. The company has gradually expanded the assistant Meta Ai worldwide and is now available in 43 countries and more than ten languages.
