The US President announces the latest definitions after the commercial measures directed at Canada, Mexico and China.
US President Donald Trump has announced plans to impose tariff fees of 25 percent on all imports of steel and aluminum, and mutual definitions on countries that settle American goods.
Trump said on Sunday that he will officially announce the definitions of steel and aluminum the next day, and the compensatory fees later in the week.
Trump did not specify any country that will be subject to revenge definitions, but he said they would not affect all countries.
“Simply, if they accuse us, we will bear them,” Trump told reporters in the Air Force.
“If they ship us by 130 percent and we ask them for something, it will not remain this way,” Trump said.
Canada is the supreme steel supplier of the United States, followed by Brazil, Mexico, South Korea and Vietnam, according to the American Steel and Steel Institute data.
Canada is also the largest source of aluminum for the United States, with other major suppliers, including China, Mexico and the United Arab Emirates.
Canadian Minister of Innovation Francois Philip said in a post on X.
This makes North America more competitive and safe. We will continue to defend Canada, our workers and our industries. “
Trump’s recent introductory threats came after last month he announced plans to impose a 25 percent tariff on all Canadian and Mexican goods, as well as a 10 percent tariff on Chinese imports.
The US President later agreed to delay the measures received in Canada and Mexico after the two countries pledged to do more to stop the flow of illegal drugs and illegal immigrants throughout the American border.
Trump’s tariff against China, which declared revenge definitions on American exports, entered Tuesday.
The US President suggested earlier this month that the European Union could be in the queue to meet the definitions, claiming that the bloc imports “almost nothing” from the United States while the United States takes “everything”.
“The European Union is really outside the line. Trump told reporters on February 2:” It is the atrocities, what they did. “
“I do not have a schedule but it will come very soon.”
Asia stock markets showed a mixed reaction to the latest Trump’s comments, as Nikki 225 in Japan decreased by 0.1 percent, but Hang Kong in Hang Singh and SSE boat in China by 1.2 percent and 0.3 percent, respectively, as of 02: 30 GMT.
