Stefan Dion, a special envoy for Europe and the European Union, says that the threat of the country’s sovereignty is not “normal”. Trump also continues to push Canada to become the 51st country in America.
“You know that, according to international law, it is not only an invasion of one of the neighbors against international law in the United Nations Charter, it is a threat,” he said. “So we are against that.”
Dion spoke to journalists at the Canada Embassy in Paris the next morning to threaten Trump to impose a 25 percent tariff on all countries in which aluminum and steel in the United States, including its largest resource: Canada.
Dion said that the Canadian government will respond if the Trump administration made it official through an executive order. Trudeau delivers a speech on Monday at the summit of artificial intelligence in Paris, where US Vice President JD Vance is expected to attend with other world leaders.

The US President said yesterday that Canada is not a viable country without the United States, and Canada warned not to rely on Washington for military protection.
“They do not pay much for the army, and the reason not to pay them is that they assume that we will protect them,” Trump said. “This is not an assumption that they can do, because why do we protect another country?”
Trump also repeated his desire to see Canada becomes a 51st country.
“If Canada is not an applicable country, show me a viable country,” Dion said. “It’s one of the best countries in the world.”
Trump’s debts rejected and said the United States needs Canada to defend it as well.
“If you don’t defend Canada, you cannot have an effective defense of the United States,” Dion said in response to a question from CBC News. “We are all together, we are all together even Ukraine. This is why NATO is very important, and for this key and we need to work hard for it.”
