Iohannis president, after the threat of accountability on the far right Politics News

Iohannis made his decision after pressing the right opposition groups.

The outgoing midfielder, Romania Klaus Euyanis, resigned amid a concerted batch by the right -wing parliamentary parties to persuade him in the wake of the controversial elections.

Iuhhanis announced his decision on Monday, after the escalating pressure from the popular opposition groups.

He said in an emotional speech: “To spare Romania from this crisis, I resign as president of Romania,” adding that he would leave his post on February 12.

His resignation comes two months after the Supreme Court was canceled in presidential elections in the country of the European Union amid allegations of Russian intervention and after an unknown candidate, Calin Georgsco won his victory in the first round.

Last month, tens of thousands of Romanians moved to the streets in many protests called by the extreme right to protest against the cancellation of voting, with some demands to resign from Iyhanis.

With the two rounds of the elections that will be restarted on May 4 and May 18, the Romania Supreme Court said that Iuhanis, whose second and last validity on December 21 will remain until his successor is elected.

But in January, three right -wing opposition parties, which dominated about 35 percent of Parliament, submitted a proposal to dismiss Euhanis.

On Monday, the deputies also launched a procedure for Iohannis’s comment, following two previous attempts by the opposition to start the operation.

“Within a few days, the Romanian parliament will vote on my comment and Romania will go to a crisis … This endeavor will be entitled internally and unfortunately also externally.”

Many opposition parties, including the far-right alliance of the Romanian unit (AR), the SOS National Party and the Youth Party-also sought some members of the Reform Union Party in Romania-to remove Iohannis. Some legislators were also expected to vote from the ruling coalition in favor.

“This is an useless endeavor because, in any case, I will leave his position within a few months after the new president is elected,” said Euhhanis.

“It is an unfounded step because I never repeated – I was never – the constitution violated.”

The leader of the right -wing extremist party, George Simyoun, welcomed the resignation of the president.

“It is your victory (the people)! It is now time to return (to) the second round,” Simon posted on Facebook.

Senate and liberal leader, Elie Bigran, is expected to replace Euyanis.
