It is assumed that an estimated 67 people have died after the Black Hawk helicopter collided with a US commercial flight from Whitchita, Kansas, over the Botomac River in Washington, DC, on Wednesday evening.
A total of 64 people, including four employees, were on the American Airlines Flight 5342, and three soldiers in the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk army that came from Fort Belvoir in Virginia.

Air traffic monitors can be heard to respond, and they ask, “Have you seen that?”
The Capital Police Department (MPD) receives phone calls that have reported a plane crash over Botomac.

DCA is closed due to “aircraft emergency.”
The DC Fire and EMS department publishes an update on X stating that “the confirmed small aircraft at the Botomac River airport near Reagan National Airport. Firefield boats at the scene.”

White House press secretary Caroline Levit publishes a statement from the president Donald Trump To x.

“Despite all these efforts, we are now at a point where we turn from a rescue process to a recovery process,” says Donylli.
Officials are holding a press conference in Washington, DC, saying that all 67 passengers, crew members and soldiers on board are assumed that both roads have died.
“We are now at the point where we turn from a rescue operation to a recovery process,” says Donylli during the briefing. “We don’t think there are any survivors.”

On Thursday morning, the source of the Ministry of Internal Security said that “there are no concerns related to terrorism” after the collision, and officials suspect that the accident was “just a tragedy.”
Before the deadly collision, there was a military plane crash in Alaska on Tuesday. The officials said that a US Air Force fighter plane crashed in Alaska after the pilot managed to safely out of the plane.

There have been at least 238 deaths and 227 injuries resulting from non -combat US military aircraft accidents since 2012, according to FAA.
There have been multiple “close call” incidents in DCA since 2023.
