Uganda confirms one dead person in Ebola’s outbreak African Union News

A nurse dies in the capital of Uganda, Kampala, after contracting with a very gastro -infectious gap.

Uganda confirmed the outbreak of the Ebola virus in Kampala, its capital, and the death of a nurse, says the Ministry of Health.

Diana Atouin, Minister of Permanent Health, told reporters on Thursday that the victim, who died on Wednesday at Kampala Hospital, was a 32 -year -old man, Diana Atouin, Secretary of the Ministry of Permanent Health, to reporters on Thursday.

She said he requested treatment in various facilities, including at a general hospital in MBAL, 240 km (150 miles) east of Kampala near the border with Kenya.

It is the first confirmation in Ebola in Uganda since 2023.

The ministry said that at least 44 people, including 30 health workers, were in contact with the nurse being tracked in an attempt to contain the potential spread of the very infectious virus.

He added that the vaccination campaign for all the dead contacts will start immediately.

Atwin said the health authorities “fully control the situation”, and urged the Ugandans to report suspected cases.

Marburg, similar to Ebola, was announced in neighboring Tanzania last week.

Rwanda, which also tops Uganda, has just emerged from Marburg.

The communication tracking campaign may be difficult because Kampala is a crowded city of more than 4 million people. It is also the bottleneck of traffic to South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda and other countries.

Ebola, a very infection bleeding fever, is transmitted by touching infected physical fluids and tissues. Symptoms include headache, vomiting, muscle pain and bleeding.

In recent years, the Ugandan authorities have used laboratory tests, tracking communication and other technologies to prepare Ebola’s outbreaks under control.

Uganda last suffered in late 2022, killing 55 out of 143 injured people. The deceased included six health workers.

East Africa has witnessed nine outbreaks of viral disease since 2000.
